After several hours of traveling, and a short stop through Bogota, I arrived to Medellin, and was brought to the hotel where I will be staying over the course of Let's Talk Coffee.
I picked up my room key and name tag, and on the way to the elevator, ran into Aaron from Water Avenue Coffee Roasters (Portland, OR), a Direct Trade client of ours, whose lead roaster, visited Finca & Beneficio El Manzano this passed January.
After dropping my bags off in my room, met him back down in the restaurant of the hotel, where I was able to order something to eat and drink. We talked through our stories, and shared about life on
both ends of the coffee spectrum, Cuatro M in the growing phase, soon to be harvest, and he, involved in the roasting, packaging, and retail end of specialty coffee.
Both tired from traveling, we called it a night, and agreed to continue tomorrow morning at breakfast. A great way to open up the first night here, and all the more excited to kick things off tomorrow morning.
Goodnight from Medellin.
